Application TrackerFive things on your CV
that get it rejected
This isn't rare. It's how most South Asian CVs get formatted, and applicant tracking systems reject that format before a recruiter ever opens it.
Flagged
"CGPA: 8.4 / 10"
Fixed
"First-class equivalent (3.94 GPA conversion)"
Before / After"CGPA: 8.4 / 10"
UK and Canadian recruiters don't recognise the scale. Your top-decile result reads as an unknown fraction.
"First-class equivalent (3.94 GPA conversion)"
Flagged
Photograph in the header
Fixed
Photo removed. Clean professional header.
Before / AfterPhotograph in the header
UK and CA ATS systems discard CVs with photos. Legally, employers can't request one — having it flags the application immediately.
Photo removed. Clean professional header.
Flagged
"Date of Birth: 20/03/1995"
Fixed
Personal details section removed entirely.
Before / After"Date of Birth: 20/03/1995"
Including personal details is an Equality Act flag in UK applications. It signals a CV formatted for a different market before the first line is read.
Personal details section removed entirely.
Flagged
"Declaration: I hereby declare…"
Fixed
Declaration section removed.
Before / After"Declaration: I hereby declare…"
Standard in South Asian CVs. A recruiter in Manchester or Melbourne spots the format immediately.
Declaration section removed.

Objective Statement
Fixed
Three-line professional summary, role-specific.
Before / AfterObjective Statement
Objective statements were replaced by professional summaries in UK, CA, and AU hiring practice over a decade ago.
Three-line professional summary, role-specific.

From people who've made the move.
“I'd been applying for months with the same experience on a different CV. The IIT framing was what I'd been getting wrong the whole time. They knew exactly how to translate it for a UK recruiter.”

Arjun R.
Software Engineer · London, UK
“I had no idea the CGPA was the problem. Once it was rewritten as a GPA equivalent with the right context around my degree, things started moving. Should have done this months earlier.”

Sana K.
Data Scientist · Toronto, Canada
“The Australian selection criteria was the part I didn't know existed. I was writing a CV when I needed to be writing a different kind of document entirely. They sorted it without me having to explain what it even was.”

M. F.
Product Manager · Sydney, Australia
Why I built this.
Over the years I've made friends everywhere California, Europe, places work took me. And I kept watching the same thing happen. Brilliant people, genuinely talented, visas running out. They'd apply for jobs and nothing.
So I'd help them. Rewrite the CV, cut what didn't translate, reposition things. And it worked. Suddenly there were interviews, offers.
That's how DesiCV started. Not because of a lack of talent. Just that nobody could see the resume in the first place.
The questions worth asking.
